Appeal your property tax assessment
Your home's assessed value may be higher than what it would sell for, and appealing it by hand takes hours.
What the agent did
Jim Wang of Wallet Hacks requested his county's worksheet for his home and the list of comparable sales the state used, gave both to ChatGPT, and asked it to size up his chances. It pointed to nearby sales well below his assessed value and some features it thought were valued too high, then drafted the text for his written appeal. He says the first appeal took about 15 minutes and cut his yearly tax bill by $362.50; he filed a second appeal and was still waiting when he last updated the post. In a separate write-up, Wes Pomeroy used Claude Cowork with his email, Drive, and browser connected to check his town's rules, gather his old appraisal and photos, weed out weak arguments, and build a filing packet he reviewed line by line before hand-delivering it on deadline day.
What the owner still checks
Check your county's rules and deadline first. Appeal windows are short, and Wes Pomeroy found out his town wouldn't accept a mailed form. Review before you submit: check every number, comparable sale, and photo yourself. He says the AI's first draft was only about 65% right. A lower assessment isn't guaranteed. Jim Wang's first appeal saved $362.50 a year.
Read every field of a government form before it is submitted, and keep a copy of what was sent.

Help me decide whether to appeal my property tax assessment. My address is [address] in [county, state]. I've attached my assessment notice, the county's worksheet for my home, and any comparable-sales list I could get. 1) First, check my county assessor's official website (not forums) and tell me the appeal steps, the form, how it must be delivered, and the exact deadline. Link the page you used. 2) Compare my assessment to recent sales of similar nearby homes and point out anything that looks too high. 3) Rank my arguments from strongest to weakest and tell me which to drop. 4) Draft the appeal text and a one-page comparison of my home and the best comparables. Don't file or submit anything. I'll review it first.
