Turn a home inspection report into a maintenance calendar

A long home inspection report is full of upkeep advice that's easy to forget once you move in.

What the agent did

Johannah Ross had just bought a house and had an 80-page inspection report. She uploaded it to Claude and asked for every maintenance task, sorted into closing week, by season, and by how often it repeats. Using the dates the report gave for past work and its suggested intervals, Claude worked out when each task was next due. She checked the list, fixed or merged items, and then had Claude add one-time and yearly repeating events to her Google Calendar, with her husband invited to each one.

What the owner still checks

Review the task list before anything lands on your calendar. Reports can be vague, and a model can misread a date or interval. Safety items like smoke detectors, gas, or electrical work are worth checking with a pro, not just a calendar reminder.

It is handy with folders of files. Open one result you already know is right before you trust the whole batch.

I've attached my home inspection report. 1) List every maintenance or repair item in it, with the page number. 2) Group them into: do right away, seasonal, and recurring (with how often). 3) Where the report says when something was last done or how often to do it, work out the next due date. 4) Show me the list as a table and wait for my changes. 5) After I approve it, create calendar events: one-time events for one-off items and yearly repeating events for recurring ones, each with a short note on what to do. Invite [partner's email] to each one. Don't create any events until I say the list is final.
